I'm cheating a bit since I actually took these two pics yesterday but I was up till after 3 am this morning dealing with a virus on my server and cleaning out dozens of files while a (very wonderful) friend helped track down the original virus files and make sure all was clean again.

This is a view outside where I work, it's out in the boonies and most of the lots around us are empty, still covered with trees and brush and Texas-type forests. It's been quite lovely all this fall since about the beginning of October with the trees turning very slowly due to the odd weather we had.

(Okay, it's January 3rd, why are suddenly having some huge fireworks explosions outside? Like public fireworks displays, not just the kind you can buy at the fireworks store and set off in your backyard...)

I got a new digital camera! Years ago, seven or eight years ago, I bought a Sony with the 3.5 floppy disk and I loved it, it took gorgeous pics and I liked the floppies because then I didn't have to have a computer around and it ran off a rechargable battery with loads of time on it.

But it broke about two years ago and I've been wanting a good camera ever since then but didn't have/want to spend hundreds of dollars.

Today I got this one, the Nikon CoolPix 5600 and it's mahvelous! Lovely big, clear, crisp pictures even if I'm not steady and it has a viewfinder if the LCD display is washed out by bright light plus lots of other spiffy features, even video with audio. I also got a 1 gig memory stick and a NiMH recharger so I don't have to keep buying batteries.

So I'm back to taking pictures and I figured I'd post one a day and work on learning to take better, more professional looking pictures, more artsy stuff as well as good everyday photos.
