Car repair place across from the Dry Creek Cafe where I had lunch today. Then I walked down to the bicycle store to get a lock for my bike so I can ride it to the cafe and other places (since my car decided to be broken Friday evening on the way home from work).

Cabbages, cabbages! I don't like to eat cabbage, I like to look at them! At least, that's what I call these things, they look like cabbages to me, maybe they have a different name tho, some sort of flower name?

The front porches of Cracker Barrel restaurants are always filled with rocking chairs which you can buy or just sit in, there's checker board tables too.

And there's some macro flower pics at flickr too, I like closeups of flowers for my pc desktop.

I'm cheating a bit since I actually took these two pics yesterday but I was up till after 3 am this morning dealing with a virus on my server and cleaning out dozens of files while a (very wonderful) friend helped track down the original virus files and make sure all was clean again.

This is a view outside where I work, it's out in the boonies and most of the lots around us are empty, still covered with trees and brush and Texas-type forests. It's been quite lovely all this fall since about the beginning of October with the trees turning very slowly due to the odd weather we had.

(Okay, it's January 3rd, why are suddenly having some huge fireworks explosions outside? Like public fireworks displays, not just the kind you can buy at the fireworks store and set off in your backyard...)

My Blue Heaven

Shades of blue, my backpack all scrunched up in the car seat as I was changing the batteries in the camera. Plus a pic of my office, in all its messy glory.

Playing peeping tom, the windows on the main house (I live in the guesthouse), I've always liked the small panes, it's one of the few good architectural features on the house (it has a really bizarre floorplan inside).

Looks like he's posing for me, doesn't he? Didn't last long tho, he ran off as soon as I snapped this, one-handed and not very steady, right at twilight.

There's more at Flickr, a Rorschach test, my cats, why Texas is boring in winter...

Camera!

I got a new digital camera! Years ago, seven or eight years ago, I bought a Sony with the 3.5 floppy disk and I loved it, it took gorgeous pics and I liked the floppies because then I didn't have to have a computer around and it ran off a rechargable battery with loads of time on it.

But it broke about two years ago and I've been wanting a good camera ever since then but didn't have/want to spend hundreds of dollars.

Today I got this one, the Nikon CoolPix 5600 and it's mahvelous! Lovely big, clear, crisp pictures even if I'm not steady and it has a viewfinder if the LCD display is washed out by bright light plus lots of other spiffy features, even video with audio. I also got a 1 gig memory stick and a NiMH recharger so I don't have to keep buying batteries.

So I'm back to taking pictures and I figured I'd post one a day and work on learning to take better, more professional looking pictures, more artsy stuff as well as good everyday photos.
